We’ll end the week with the last four months of the year, showcasing some of the biggest stories from September through December.

SEPTEMBER 5, 2023 – Jimmy Buffett died after a four-year fight with a rare skin cancer

Starting off with September, famed musician Jimmy Buffett died at the age of 76 after a four-year fight with skin cancer.

Jimmy Buffett was honored by a former bandmate, businesses on the coast, and Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith passed a senate resolution honoring Jimmy Buffett.

He was remembered for more than his music too, Jimmy Buffett donated two planes to Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile.

OCTOBER 6, 2023 – News 25 team coverage of Cruisin’ the Coast 2023

In October, the News 25 morning crew took the Gulf Coast on the road as they covered Cruise Central for Cruisin’ the Coast!

Grant, Ansley, and Chief Meteorologist Rob headed out to bring daily coverage of events all across the Gulf Coast.

Throughout the day, the News 25 team brought Cruisin’ events right to your home!

NOVEMBER 7 – 28, 2023 – Celebrate Cities

Kicking off in November, Chief Meteorologist Rob headed to coastal cities to bring News 25’s newest segment: “Celebrate Cities.”

The series kicked off on November 7 with Chief Rob heading to Pascagoula, ending on November 28 with a final stop in Ocean Springs.

Throughout the mornings every Tuesday, Chief Rob talks to local residents and public officials to get a feel of the city he was in.

DECEMBER 14, 2023 – Threat causes Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport to be shut down

We end the year with a serious case.

On December 14, the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport was evacuated after an emailed threat.

Other locations in Mississippi received a threat, including Stennis International Airport in Hancock County and Tupelo Airport.
