Injured Firefighter Continues to Recover

The community is continuing to show support as a Gulfport firefighter who had his head pinched between a brick wall and a fire truck recovers from surgery.
Mark Hedrick underwent major surgery Monday night. The doctors say the surgery went well and Hedrick is well on the way to recovery. Fire Chief Mike Beyerstedt tells News 25 he has had an overwhelming show of support not only from the community but outside the state as well. “Even right before the meeting, I was going through emails from people in Texas that were sending emails over here about it. It really has been touching the way people have kind of really shown how much they care about Mark and his family.”
Chief Beyerstedt says the doctors are hopeful he will get to return home by tomorrow.
