Mississippi Aquarium accepts 40 cold-stunned Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtles

Tuesday was Turtle Day at the Mississippi Aquarium!
Members of the MSAQ Crew met the volunteer organization – Turtles Fly Too – to accept 40 cold-stunned Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtles from the New England Aquarium.
Over the next months, these turtles will be treated for a variety of things as a result of the cold-stun event which cold include pneumonia, bone infections, GI Tract issues, and even frostbite.
The Mississippi Aquarium hopes to release turtles back into the Gulf of Mexico, where species primarily occupies before their migrations lead them into the Atlantic Ocean and up the East Coast.
