City of Ocean Springs holding rededication ceremony for Marble Springs Park
The City of Ocean Springs is celebrating the renovations and improvements to one park with a unique history.
A grant of over $16,000 from the Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area was awarded to Marble Springs Park. Restoration of Marble Springs included repairs to the gazebo, marble tubs, walkways, and the historic jail cell.
Discovery of the mineral springs on the property and construction of the marble baths attracted visitors for treatments in the medicinal waters known to local Native Americans as ‘Holy Springs.’
The project has improved the function and beauty of the park, also documenting its history in the community.
A rededication and ribbon cutting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 13th at 10:30.
