Southern Miss leads state in Gilman International Scholarship earnings during 2021- 2022 school year

Students at the University of Southern Mississippi lead the entire state of Mississippi in Gilman International Scholarship earnings during the 2021 – 2022 academic year.

The Gilman Scholarship is sponsored through the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The scholarship focuses on shaping the mutual relation between American people and those from other countries through increasing the number of students studying abroad.

In addition, the scholarship encourages STEM-related research along with the study of languages.

Out of the receiving class, ten USM students will be earning the opportunity to officially conduct research abroad.
