Small Business Saturday in Pass Christian

A lot of holiday shopping was done over the weekend as Small Business Saturday put a spotlight on local businesses across the Coast.

In Downtown Pass Christian, it’s all about shopping small to boost the local economy after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Mimi Parker Thomas of Parker’s Jewelry and Gifts has been in the Pass for 30 years. She says she’s pleased to see the foot traffic since Black Friday as her store has prepped for the Christmas holiday.

Small Business Saturday, founded over a decade ago by the payment company American Express, was just a way to remind shoppers not to forget the little guy and now has bloomed into a celebrated shopping day.

Parker, who specializes in pearls, says many customers have come from all over the coastal lines of Louisiana and Alabama to view the newest pieces she has.

Parker, whose store is one of the original stores in downtown Pass, says loyal customers have been the reason she’s been able to stay open as long as she has.
