Jackson County library gives in world of STEAM
A local library in Jackson County is helping young students dive into the world of STEAM.
On the fourth Thursday of every month, the Gautier Public Library will be hosting Children’s STEAM Day.
It’s a great opportunity for elementary-aged kids to learn science, technology, art, and mathematics.
In the next STEAM class, students will be learning about the science of sounds and the different vibrations instruments produce.
Youth services librarian Donna Holifield gives a sneak peak of a demonstration that students will be conducting during class.
“We want to make all different sizes of boxes and we’re going to make guitars after we discuss the science of sound waves,” said Hollifield. “Soundwaves are different according to what the physics and matter you’re using to make the sound.”
The next STEAM Day will be on December 21 at the Gautier Public Library.
