Voters go out to the polls for Election Day
WXXV headed out to the polls to catch up with some local voters in our neck of the woods at the Lyman Community Center.
We asked local community members why getting out to the polls and participating in the Democratic process is important to them.
News 25 spoke with voters who have noticed a lower turnout than in years past. Gulfport resident Linda Stapleton said, “I think I blame it on just, the young people don’t have that, maybe the history of why it is so important to vote and what it means when you do vote.”
Saucier resident Michael Upton said, “You have a voice. You have a say in it. I think some people think they don’t have a say in it, but you do have a say in it. My personal opinion is if you don’t vote, you don’t have room to complain.”
