Memorial Health System holds Mammogram-a-Thon for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Memorial Health System set out to encourage people to get checked for breast cancer at their Mammogram-a-Thon.
Memorial Health System is using Breast Cancer Awareness Month to remind locals about the importance of testing and early prevention.
Memorial representatives were on site at Walmart to answer any questions people may have about testing, prevention, and finances.
Memorial Health also partnered with Supertalk Mississippi who broadcasted the event over-the-air.
Many people they came in contact with were overdue for a mammogram, mostly due to a lack of health insurance.
Memorial Health is currently offering mammograms for $125 or even free. Memorial Cancer Center Manager Quin Barnes said, “We want to reach out and let people know, don’t let that stop you. There are ways that we can assist to help you. Breast cancer, aside from skin cancer, is the number one diagnoses in women and we’re seeing it anywhere from late 20s on up.”
Remember to regularly check your breasts for lumps. If you notice something contact your primary care physician.
