First-grade musical at East Hancock Elementary

First-graders at East Hancock Elementary presented ‘Barnyard Moosical’ this morning for parents, teachers, and kindergarten students.

Each first-grade class learned the main song, then another song about their characters. Each group took turns taking center stage for the performance. They had chickens, goats, pigs, cows, and farmers!

Music Teacher Carlos McKibben said it was easy and fun for the first-graders to learn their parts and as you can see from the video, the children also picked up each other’s songs. “Because all the parts are independent, I got to teach all the kids, all the students, to be independent and dependent on each other. So, having to teach them all different parts to do all together was a lot of fun and easy to do.”

Mr. McKibben said it took about six weeks to teach the children their songs.
