Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church thanks first responders at annual luncheon

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Ocean Springs held their annual first responders luncheon.

Today marks six years that the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Ocean Springs has been serving up home-cooked meals for local first responders.

60 pounds of potato salad, six gallons of green beans, three different protein options, and tons of desserts, that’s how much food it takes to feed hundreds of first responders on the Coast and volunteers are happy to provide it.

Over the last six years, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church has made new friendships with first responders by showing them appreciation through a home-cooked lunch.

Theresa Dantzler says in the south, food is a love language, and the perfect way to say thank you. “I’ve always heard that the way to a man or a woman’s heart is with food. That’s one of the things… we know everybody enjoys food, especially if it’s home-cooked and its good food. They all take care of us, so at some time or another we need to show them some appreciation.”

The church will be celebrating its 134th birthday in November.
