Singing River Health System 3rd annual Sunset on Cancer Run

Singing River Health System is doing its part to help the fight against cancer at their annual run.

The third annual Sunset on Cancer 5K and one-mile fun run is a race geared towards raising awareness for cancer screenings, early detections, and cancer prevention methods.

Runners received swag bags filled with goodies and shirts in honor of the event.

There were also fun activities for families and children at the event. After the race was finished, Cancer Survivor Annie shared her testimony of courage during her battle with the disease.

Following her speech, survivors took their hand-made lanterns of love and inspiration and let them loose into Ocean Springs Front Beach.

Dr. Michael Finan of Singing River Health System says the money raised will help support cancer patients. “It also raises money to support our Singing River Cancer Fund, and all of those funds stay in South Mississippi. So basically, all of the funds raised are used to help patients. Patients who can’t afford transportation or they can’t afford their medication. or they need something done they can’t afford, we have the funds to help them.”

There were over 300 registered guests at this year’s Sunset on Cancer Run.
