St. Baldricks Foundation fights against childhood cancer with the Rock the Bald event
A local foundation on the Coast is raising money to fight against childhood cancer.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation held its annual ‘Rock the Bald’ event at Jones Park yesterday. The event included a silent auction, fun kids activities, carnival style games, food trucks, and live music.
St. Baldrick’s national sponsor Sports Clips provided heroes and volunteers with on-site hair cuts to support the cause. During the event, Sports Clips also presented St. Baldrick’s with a $2,000 donation.
Volunteer Event Organizer Rebecca Morrow says she’s thankful for the community’s support. “We actually had two of our honored kids show up today. Hendrix was here for a little bit and then we have a new honor kid who showed up today. She’s only two and has down syndrome and leukemia. So, this is why we do it, we do it for these kids. We’ve got politicians out here, congressmen, we’ve got City Councilman R. Lee Flowers is out here doing some sidewalk chalk. So, we’ve got a good representation from the community. I love it.”
So far, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation has raised over $16,000 in pursuit of their $30,000 goal.
