13th annual Kids Fishing Rodeo

With the fall weather cooling things off, what better way to spend the day than fishing?

That’s how dozens of families were spending their Saturday down at Jimmy Rutherford Pier in Bay St. Louis for Waveland Civic Association’s 13th annual Special Needs Fishing Rodeo.

The Waveland Civic Association, the CCA, and sponsors provided fishing poles, shrimp, and bait and tackle to young anglers.

Emergency response vehicles were also on-site for kids to explore.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, and snacks were on deck for those needing to refuel before catching more fish.

WCA President AJ Andres says the fishing rodeo is a great way to give back. “We want these kids to come out and enjoy a day of fishing, you know they don’t get to do a lot of stuff and this is our way of trying to give back to the community and the kids. This is the one time of year, we normally do this in May, but we’re trying it now around September, October trying to see with the weather being cooler trying to let these kids get out and come fish and enjoy the day.”
