Discarded cigarette causes damage to property

Fire

Harrison County Fire Rescue and D’Iberville Fire Department responded to a fire caused by a discarded cigarette that damaged two structures Friday morning.

There were no injuries in the fire in east Harrison County. This is the second fire this week that has damaged property after a cigarette was discarded in the grass.

The continuing drought conditions have caused the grass and brush to become extremally subject to burning.

Earlier this week, in central Harrison County, six vehicles were destroyed when the grass they were parked in caught fire after a cigarette, that was assumed to be out, was discarded in the grass.
