Moss Point Police investigating September 22 death

Moss Point Police is actively investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of 18-year-old Jayrell Cox.

The shooting happened on September 21 on Elder Ferry Road.

A homeowner told officers he found two armed suspects under his carport and ran back inside.

He was shot at and returned fire on the suspects.

The next day on September 22, officers found a dead man in the backyard of another home.

They learned this was one of the suspects from the night before.
