Mississippi Gulf Coast Kennel Club hosts Paws under the Oak

Paws were out and about under the oak Saturday as the Mississippi Gulf Coast Kennel Club hosted its responsible dog owner day.

The Paws under the Oak event is the MGCKC’s second annual event in celebration of the love between a dog and its owner.

The day out brought many owners to showcase the history and share stories of their breeds.

Owners also had the chance to compete in various competitions to showcase their dogs.

One young adult trainer brought her border collier Molly to have some fun and showcase her skills. Meagan Milliet said, “I found out about this event and decided to bring her and then it turned out we had enough tricks to get her four different titles. It’s just a lot of repetition and working in short sessions so she doesn’t get bored. She’s a very high strong breed so she can get distracted really easily, but she’s always fun to work with. She gets super happy whenever we do agility and she just loves it.”

Meagan says she’s looking forward to coming back for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Kennel Club annual Dog Show in November at the Harrison County Fairgrounds.
