Friendship Park turf project begins in Picayune

Picayune leaders have broken ground on a new project at Friendship Park.

New artificial turn infields are now being installed at the baseball fields at the park. Funding for the fields comes from the Gulf Coast Restoration Fund, which are appropriated from the state legislature.

City leaders say the new turf will reduce maintenance time and costs.
