Carl Boyanton announces bid for Congress
Local businessman Carl Boyanton announced his bid for Congress in Diamondhead last night.
Boyanton ran in the Republican Primary for the Fourth District seat in the 2020 and 2022 elections, winning 6.2 percent of the vote in 2022.
The entrepreneur seeking to defeat first-term incumbent Mike Ezell.
The candidate says he wants to center his campaign around boosting the state’s economy and leading the narrative on controversial discussion in Congress. “Bring bold issues to the forefront. You know, get people out there to start looking at different things besides just the normal. I want to bring business to Mississippi. The background business for 40 years, but yeah, I think we need to start attacking leading the narrative on stuff like climate change, pandemic, immigration. I mean, all that stuff we need to be leading on, we shouldn’t be backbenchers. We should be the one out in front of everybody.”
Next year’s congressional primary will be in March ahead of the November 2024 general election, which is concurrent with the presidential election.
