Capitol Police respond to stand-off in Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss. – On Thursday, September 7th, 2023, Mississippi Capitol Police responded to a call regarding a domestic violence situation at a residence on Fairview Street in Jackson.

Upon arrival, officers initially encountered a male subject attempting to leave the residence.

When officers approached the home, the subject retreated inside the residence.

It was determined that there was a female subject in the home who was then taken hostage by the male.

The male subject has been identified as, 40-year-old, Daniel Fairly.

The female was able to escape from the home and did not receive any serious physical injuries.

Capitol Police officers did not receive any serious physical injury and were able to successfully negotiate with the subject and quickly deescalate the situation at hand.

Fairly was arrested at the scene without any further incident.

Charges are pending.
