Women of Wisdom showing appreciation to local first responders

Women of Wisdom will host an appreciation event for first responders on 9/11.

More than 50 volunteers with WOW will be serving lunch at 78 fire, police, and sheriff’s departments to 935 first responders in remembrance of 9/11 which killed more than 400 first responders.

The organization is packing bags full of handwritten thank you notes from schools across the Gulf Coast and other heartfelt goodies.

For any personnel not working on September 11th, they will have the opportunity to win a door prize. Medical responders are also receiving some love.

Bridget Turan explains why she spearheads the effort. “I just feel that first responders need appreciation because I don’t feel like they get the appreciation they deserve throughout the year. So, if I can just do this one time a year, that’s what I want to do. I want to appreciate them on 9/11 because it is a meaningful service day for everyone.”
