Lyman Senior Center celebrates Labor Day

The Lyman Senior Center held their second annual Labor Day barbeque.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department was on grill duty, cooking hotdogs and hamburgers.

Inside, Harrison Central’s JROTC presented the colors and Mayor Hewes and Mayor Gilich gave speeches alongside veterans.

This is Sheriff-Elect Matt Haley’s first volunteer project since being elected. He’s always been involved with the department’s community events and he doesn’t see that going away when he’s sworn in as sheriff. “Nothing has changed. You know, I will continue to do this. It’s something that I’ve enjoyed doing since Sheriff Troy Peterson started the cooking team, I’ve been a part of it and I’ll continue to be apart of it. I think it’s a great thing that we’re able to give back to our seniors and give back to the community.”

After the speeches, seniors enjoyed an afternoon of music and great food.
