FEMA, SBA ready to help in Moss Point

FEMA officials are on the ground in Moss Point, ready to lend a hand to those affected by the tornado that hit June 19th.

With a federal disaster declaration now made, FEMA and the Small Business Administration has people in Moss Point ready to help get repairs made, loans approved, and offer any other help needed.

Nate Custer, media relations for FEMA in Moss Point, says officials are at the disaster recovery center seven days a week, ready to answer questions and help people get the help they need.

The Disaster Recovery Center is housed at the Riverfront Community Center. “If people have not registered, but had damage in Jackson County, especially in the Moss Point community from the tornados earlier in the summer, they need to register with FEMA. There’s a few more weeks left in which to do that. You need to call 1-800-621-3362 or you can go online at disasterassistance.gov.”

Once you’re registered with FEMA, be sure to answer your phone, even if its an unfamiliar number so a FEMA inspector can set up an appointment with you.

One other note, the center will be closed Sunday and Monday for the Labor Day holiday.
