Fallen Oak to hold Inaugural Collegiate Invitational

Three Mississippi universities are coming together to showcase golf’s future stars in this invitational tournament.

From October 14th through the 17th, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss will be hosting the inaugural Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational.

The free event, which is open to the public, is offering a family-friendly college game day atmosphere.

There will be tailgating, giving fans an opportunity to rep their school colors, viewing areas to watch all the football action, and a chance to view some of the best collegiate golfers in the country. Tournament Director Ashley Comstock said, “This would be the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s largest tailgating event this season and we’re excited because it’s very family friendly and we invite you to bring your children out, bring all of your college gear, cheer on your team. You can set up on the course with your tents and your chairs. We’re going to have food trucks.”

Fallen Oak Golf Professional Maury Hodges said, “We’re lucky enough to be ranked the number one course in the State of Mississippi. We’re the number two casino course in the country. These college kids are so good these days and they hit the ball so far. So, it will be a great time for everybody to come out and see the future stars.”

The inaugural event will be replacing the Champions Tour that Fallen Oak used to host.
