MHP investigating separate fatal crashes in Pearl River County

Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a pair of fatal crashes in Pearl River County that happened over the last week.

On August 25 about 10:30 p.m., 20-year-old Ramone Jackson of Picayune was traveling north on Highway 43 when his vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.

Jackson and his 19-year-old passenger, Shelby Rae Kevwitch, were killed in the crash.

Another vehicle came upon the wreck and hit some debris from the initial cash. 25-year-old Brandon McConnell of Carriere suffered moderate injuries.

On Wednesday, about 6:28 a.m., troopers responded to a crash on Highway 11. 18-year-old Skyla McLown of Tylertown was traveling south when the vehicle veered off the road and overturned.

McLown died at the scene.

Both fatal crashes are under investigation by MHP.
