Get to know new Red Cross Director John McCarty
The Southeast Chapter of the American Red Cross has a new executive director.
John McCarty began his new executive director role last week, replacing John McFarland who died of cancer in May.
The majority of McCarty’s career has been working with several different nonprofits and serving the community in some form or fashion and he believes everything he’s done thus far has prepared him for this new position.
McCarty says he comes from a military family and his dad told him that he should always be in service to his fellow man.
McCarty has truly taken that statement to heart as well as the mission of the American Red Cross. “The Red Cross helps people when they’re most vulnerable, and that just appeals to not only my heart, but my soul, and that’s what I want to do. That is what I feel like I’ve been put on this earth to do is to be of service.”
