Gulfport Police searching for suspect in stabbing case

Gulfport Police are searching for a man in connection with a stabbing Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a stabbing call about noontime in the 2600 block of 19th Street.

On scene, they found a victim who had been stabbed and was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

49-year-old Octavius LL Benton has been identified as a suspect in the case and a warrant for aggravated assault has been issued.

He is described at 5-foot-6, 145 pounds with brown eyes and a bald head. He is considered armed and dangerous.
