Woman driving in 2021 wreck that killed Waveland officer indicted
A Carriere woman has been indicted two years after she was behind the wheel in a wreck that injured two others injured and another dead.
District Attorney W. Crosby Parker said 44-year-old Angela James was indicted on four counts of DUI causing serious injury and one count of manslaughter.
The charges stemmed from an incident on July 18, 2021 at about 3:40 a.m. State troopers responded to a single vehicle crash at Paradise Lane and Highway 603 in Hancock County.
James, the driver, was inside the wrecked vehicle, while two other passengers were ejected. One passenger, Katie Cash, died from her injuries and the other passenger was treated for injuries from the crash.
Cash, a mother of two daughters, had just graduated from the Harrison County Law Enforcement Training Academy the day prior to the wreck.
James will be arraigned during the October 2023 court term in Hancock County, when a trial date will be set.
