A semi-truck loaded with propane bottles is on fire on I-59 South at the 28 mile marker south of Poplarville exit in Pearl River County.
Multiple first responders are at the scene working to control the fire and prevent it from spreading into the wood line.
In a 6 p.m. update, Mississippi Highway Patrol announced the left southbound lane of travel is open. Motorists should be exceedingly cautious while the initial stages of the cleanup process are underway.
Workers are in the right lane with heavy machinery and traffic may occasionally be stopped to allow workers to reposition equipment.
