Salvation Army Looking for Volunteers
As temperatures begin to dip across the Coast, the homeless need a place to escape the frigid weather at night and that’s when the Salvation Army steps in.
The Salvation Army has multiple cold weather shelters across the Coast that open to keep these men and women safe. Doors open around 4 in the afternoon and the shelter usually shuts down the next morning. Men and women staying at the shelter are provided meals and other accommodations but now, the shelters need more helping hands to help out.
Salvation Army Director of Public Relations Morgan Shiyou said, “ In Pascagoula, they’ve had to rebuild or they are working on rebuilding their facility there because it was just in desperate need of that and they need volunteers with construction background or any kind of background like that that can help. Also, they need funds to help with the rebuilding process. They’re also trying to get a walk-in refrigerator/freezer for all the food that they have to provide to the community.”
If you’re interested in volunteering, call 228-374-8301 and ask for Zack.
