Singing River Hospital holds blood drive

Singing River Health System invited the community to give the gift of life today.

The health system held a blood drive at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula. The blood bank exceeded their donation goal of 55 units, for a total of 74 units.

According to the blood bank, a larger number of donations are needed during the summer months due to an increase in accidents.

Singing River Health System Blood Bank Manager Trish Anderson describes these donations as a gift. “Blood is life. Okay. It’s a free gift. I’m passionate about it, because I know what happens when we get short supply and we get in an emergency situation or a trauma situation. You always want to have the products on hand.”

Singing River Health System will hold more blood drives in December.
