Mardi Gras Gala

Carnival season kicked off tonight in Bay St. Louis in grand fashion while also giving back to the community.
Nearly 400 guests were expected to pour into the community hall for dinner, music and more. This year’s theme was “Steps to a Brighter Future” and proceeds benefited CASA Hancock County.
There was a silent auction and also a crowning of CASA’s king and queen of the Mardi Gras Gala. CASA Hancock County Executive Director Cynthia Chauvin said, “Steps to a Brighter Future for us signifies that by children in foster care having an advocate, they’re more likely to having a greater chance to have a healthier and happier productive childhood and into adulthood. So, we see the steps and the decorations of the shoes in our ballroom as the footprints of the children that we serve.”
The gala will last until 11 tonight. The party kicked off around 7 with live music from the band Category Six.
