MDOT relaunching anti-litter campaign

The Mississippi Department of Transportation has announced that it is relaunching its anti-litter campaign this fall.

MDOT invests about $3.2 million each year picking up trash.

The campaign will last for 90 days in hopes of inspiring Mississippians to keep the Magnolia State beautiful.

MDOT had several programs in place to keep Mississippi roads and highways clean. Through MDOT’s Adopt a Highway program, organizations and groups can receive tools, vests, and other PPE materials to keep their sections of roads and highways clean.

Anna Ehrgott, the public information officer for MDOT, says not picking up litter does more than just harm the environment. “It can harm our environment. It can hurt economic development and tourism efforts and it can also decrease property values. So, it’s really important that everyone do their part litter in the first place and put trash where it belongs.”

MDOT has launched a new litter web page. You can find that and more information about litter prevention by clicking here.
