Heat forces temporary playground closure in Picayune

The hot temperatures we’ve been experiencing lately have forced one South Mississippi city to shut down its playground equipment during certain hours of the day.

Picayune announced on Facebook this week that playground areas at all city parks are closed from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, simply because the equipment becomes too hot to play on at those times.

According to the city, some playground equipment has reached temperatures of 125 degrees.

The city stresses that this is just a temporary measure and the equipment will fully reopen once temperatures cool down.
