Stewart, Pearson go to runoff for Stone sheriff

Primary Election Races Going To Runoffs

Stewart and Lance Pearson are headed to a runoff to decide who will be the next sheriff of Stone County.

Stewart and Pearson were the top two candidates voters cast ballots for in a field of six to succeed Sheriff Mike Farmer, who is retiring.

Stewart garnered 33% of the vote, while Pearson came in with 24% of the vote.

They will face each other in a runoff on Aug. 29. With no Democratic challenger, the winner will become the next sheriff.
