Precinct runs out of ballots; voters go to manual method

Ballots
The precinct at the old skate park on DeBuys Road ran out of Republican primary ballots on Tuesday evening.

Voters in line at a precinct on DeBuys Road had to wait to vote one-by-one on a touchscreen after the location ran out of Republican ballots.

Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner told WXXV that two precincts ran out of ballots today. The precinct on DeBuys Road started with 600 total ballots and ran through those. The precinct was provided with 300 more ballots and ran through those, but the county was then out of ballots.

Ladner said people still in line are now voting through the digital system one at a time. Ladner said she didn’t believe the results will be delayed as a result of the issue.

The polls closed officially at 7 p.m., but anyone in line at the old skate park, now a county maintenance yard, will still be able to cast their ballot.
