Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Gulfport celebrates 121 years of service
Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Gulfport is celebrating 121 years of Christian fellowship.
The church was founded in 1902 by Reverand Loggins, his followers, and members of Mount Bethel Baptist Church.
The church building was completed a few years later in 1909 and has withstood its fair share of natural disasters, fires, and other hardships over the years.
Nevertheless, the church is still a thriving staple in the community, providing a safe space for members to serve God and give aid to those in need.
The anniversary service included a special gospel of the day, praise dancing, and guest preacher Reverand Obadiah Clemons, who says it is an honor to celebrate with the congregation. “When I come to Little Rock, I know I’m coming to a place where they are going to praise the Lord and worship and everybody’s going to get in the service. So, that’s why I come, for such an event.”
Rev. James Beal said, “We want to honor all those who came before us, the different pastors. We’ve had about three or four pastors before me, but also all those great saints that dug the trenches, you know, that we can enjoy this milestone today.”
“Nothing shall Separate Us” was the theme for the anniversary service.
