Harrison County Library holds mental health training
Harrison County Library System is invested in educating the public on youth mental health first aid.
The library system is holding a series of youth mental health first aid training classes this summer. The first aid trainings are designed to teach parents, caregivers, teachers, and others how to help an adolescent experiencing mental health challenges.
The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth and teaches a 5-step action plan for helping youth in crisis and non-crisis situations.
Hancock County Library System Director John Brdecka says these programs are important for the future of our communities. “An event like this is important to the community because children are our future. We need to be able to provide them with the tools to cope and deal with stress, every day life, technology, iPads, phones.”
The next youth mental health first aid training will take place on Friday, August 25th at the Pearlington Library.
