Two die in head-on collision in Hancock County

Two Coast drivers died this morning in a head-on collision on Texas Flat Road in Hancock County.

Hancock County Coroner Jeff Hair said 35-year-old Shawn Kinney of Biloxi and 47-year-old Toni Jarrell of Picayune died at the scene.

The crash happened about 6 a.m. on Texas Flat, closed to Mississippi 607.

Sheriff Ricky Adam said that one driver apparently was trying to pass another vehicle, which led to the head-on collision.

“It’s just a sad and unfortunate situation. There were no road conditions that would have contributed,” Adam said. “It was just a matter of people getting in a hurry and carelessness.”

The incident is under investigation.
