Mississippi Dept. of Education released Kindergarten Readiness Scores

The Mississippi Department of Education released the Kindergarten Readiness results for this school year.

For spring 2023, 61.42 percent of pre-K students were ready to pass kindergarten. According to the test results for Fall 2022, only 34.87 percent of pre-K students passed.

The benchmark score for kindergarten readiness also raised. In Fall 2022, it was 530, but in Spring 2023, it was 681.

All but two districts reached that threshold. This still does not compare to pre-COVID levels. Spring 2019 test results show 65.57 percent passed and Fall 2019 results show 36.56 percent passed.

Here are the test results for the Gulf Coast.  The Bay St. Louis-Waveland School District scored around 58 percent while Biloxi, Gulfport, and Hancock County school districts scored within 60 percent. Harrison County scores high, reaching 75.59 percent.

Jackson County School District scores within 60 percent. Ocean Springs and Pascagoula school districts score within 50 percent.

Pass Christian and Long Beach scored 70.69 percent and 85.10 percent respectively.
