Delta Sigma Theta Alumni host Meet the Candidates forum

Delta Sigma Theta alumni hosted a ‘Meet the Candidates’ forum at Orange Grove Community Center.

The forum included candidates for Harrison County sheriff, circuit court, and district 4 supervisor and judge.

The audience was able to submit questions to a specific office and then candidates answered two to three questions in a debate style.

Some of the hot topics included youth physical and mental well-being, circuit court efficiency, and how these candidates would use their power if elected to better the community.

Delta Sigma Theta is a non-partisan organization and hopes everyone can leave the event feeling more confident before they head to the polls August 8th. Delta Sigma Theta Vice President Dr. Tracy Daniel-Hardy said, “They may also be straddling the fence, you know, straddling the fence about who to vote for in a particular race. And maybe something that is said tonight may convince them to be swayed one way or the other. We just hope they leave here informed prepared to participate in the elections.”
