Biloxi High School band welcomes new band director
The Biloxi High School band is kicking off the fall competition season.
The band held a community event showcasing a preview of their fall half-time show performance.
They welcomed the public to enjoy food trucks, bounce houses, and live performances from the band.
Biloxi High School welcomes Tracy Carter, their new band director, who worked as Biloxi Middle School’s band director and coordinator for more than two years before beginning her role at the high school.
The theme of this year’s performance is ‘mix tape.’ She says it will have a little something for everyone. “Music, it matters to everybody in different ways. So, there’s all kinds of different snippets and different ideas of all kinds of genres of music and all kinds of time periods of music. We’ve put it together a really creative way visually to make that really fun. We’ve got some standard like band pieces themselves, there’s a really popular piece called minimalist dances. We’ve got some Britney Spears in there, we’ve got some samples from Hamilton, we’ve got some sample from Careless Whispers if you remember them from the 80s.”
