Moss Point continuing to rebuild one month after the tornado

The City of Moss Point continues to rebuild a month after that tornado ripped through the city, but citizens are feeling the growing pains of the process.

Gladys Douglas says she’s anxious and hopeful to be back in her home soon, a month after an EF-2 tornado caused damage to her roof, leaving mildew and mold.

Douglas, a renter in the impacted area, says her landlords have done a great job in providing assistance to her, along with volunteers.

However, the affects of paying for hotels to provide shelter for her family has taken a toll on her income.

Douglas shares her frustration with the process as well as some questions other Moss Point citizens are raising. “Y’all put two counties together to come up with what y’all came up with.  How many more counties y’all gonna put together, how much longer we have to wait for y’all to put some times together to get some help? Somebody got to say something because it is ridiculous over here. It’s people sitting outside up there right now and sitting in the heat because they don’t have nowhere to go.”

Douglas is still optimistic, but wants prayers answered, as do many Moss Point citizens who have yet to recover their homes.
