Encompass Health Rehabilitation Center expanding in Gulfport

In a bid to meet the rising demand of rehabilitation services, Encompass Health, located within Memorial Hospital Gulfport, is expanding their capabilities.

Their most recent expansion was in 2020, which made them a 43-bed inpatient hospital. However, it didn’t take long for those beds to be filled.

As their list for rehab services kept growing, Encompass Health decided to expand once again. They submitted a request to add more beds to the facility and it was granted.

The hospital is adding 12 more beds, bringing their total to 55. Encompass Health CEO Mark Studdard said, “We have a waiting list everyday from 10 to 20 patients waiting to get in. So, those patients are having to travel or go without the care. We’re excited to be able to add more care here locally.”

Encompass Health’s reach extends beyond Memorial Hospital Gulfport as they cater to patients not only from this hospital, but patients in Mobile, New Orleans, and surrounding areas often seek medical services at this location to receive the specialized care and be closer to home.
