Shuckers in The Show: Catching up with Brewers infielder Brice Turang

As we continue our mini-series of catching up with former Biloxi Shuckers in the Show, we turn our attention to first-year Milwaukee Brewer Brice Turang.

A fifth-inning grand slam in his fourth career game was the finishing touch on 10-0 win over the New York Mets, paving the way for what should be a long Major League career.

However, after breaking camp with the big league club to start the season, Turang has also seen time back in Triple A this year before being recalled by the Brew Crew late last month.

Now back in Milwaukee, Turang reflects on his mindset from the 73 games be played in Biloxi back in 2021 as well as the emotions of getting the call out of spring training. “It’s your dream as a kid. It’s all you dream about, so when I got the call, it didn’t feel real until opening day, my first day, that’s when it kind of sunk in and it kind of hit, but yeah, it was awesome, man. It was a great time and being able to call my family and let them know, it was just good. Just trusting the process, and people always say it, but that’s how it is. Just trusting the work, you put in, trusting the game, trusting how things pan out to be. It’s just all about trust and trusting yourself, and that’s all you can really do.”

Turang was drafted by the Brewers in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2018 MLB First Year Player Draft.
