Where you should go for minor concerns vs. serious concerns
If you’re feeling under the weather and trying to decide where to go for help, Memorial Health System offers a few avenues.
Walk-in clinics and tele-health appointments are appropriate options for minor illnesses.
Examples of minor health concerns could include mild stomach discomfort, UTIs, or sprains.
More serious concerns such as head injuries, heat exhaustion, or loss of consciousness should be seen by an emergency room doctor.
Memorial Health System’s director of advanced practice – Anne Musgrove – is raising public awareness about where to go for different types of medical care.
“If you have something minor like a cough or a cold or a respiratory illness, those are things that are appropriate to come into the walk in clinic or call tele-medicine on demand,” Musgrove said. “If you’re having chest pain, shortness of breath, those things need to go straight to our emergency department.”
