Tips to stay safe this Fourth of July

More than 10,000 people were treated for fireworks-related injuries in the U.S. last year.

The consumer product safety commission has some tips you may want to consider to help you and your family celebrate safely this Fourth of July:

  • Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks, including sparklers
  • Keep a bucket of water or garden hose handy in case of fire or any mishaps
  • Light fireworks one at a time and then move back quickly
  • Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully

Also pet owners may want to bring your pets inside and give them a safe and secure place.

Consider turning up the volume on your TV or playing music to help cancel out the loud noises.
