Four Confederate Monuments In New Orleans Will Be Removed
Following a meeting that included a speech from Mayor Mitch Landrieu and comments from the public, the New Orleans City council voted to have the monuments removed.
After months of protests and meetings, the city council voted the statues are a nuisance.
The statues include – Robert E. Lee at lee circle, Jefferson Davis, p-g-t Beauregard and the battle of liberty place.
The council voted six to one in favor of removing the monuments.
No word as to when the monuments will be removed.
The city anticipates lawsuits to keep the monuments.
