Increase in attendance at 2023 South Mississippi Summer Fair
The fair is always a hit on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but this year, attendance was up!
The South Mississippi Summer Fair has been a staple on the Coast for 36 years and is one of the coliseum’s premier family events.
The Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum and Convention Center reported the highest attendance in two years.
Scrapin the Coast is a vehicle show which took place last weekend. According to Executive Director Matt McDonnell, Scrapin also saw a rise in attendance.
In terms of revenue, this is encouraging to the Coliseum since the income from events funds the venues maintenance and upkeep.
McDonnell says the Coast’s economy is in a good place. “Our attendance was up this year as compared to the previous two years. So, we are very excited we were able to continue to grow the revenue that it takes to operate this building. So, the overall economic climate that we’re operating in, while in other parts of the country it may not be good, here on the Coast it’s been excellent.”
