Military Families Receive Free Meals
Operation Homefront is an organization that works to make sure military families across the nation remain strong, stable and secure.
One of the ways they ensure that is by providing all the ingredients for a traditional Christmas meal. Today, 150 Gulf Coast military families received a bag filled with all of the traditional holiday dinner fixings. The bags were stuffed to the top with mashed potatoes, pie crust, green beans and more. Games and refreshments were also provided as a treat.
This year, Operation Homefront will feed over 8,000 military families across the nation. Operation Homefront Regional Director Spencer Hayman said, “The holidays are a tough time because there are a lot of expenses involved. If we can just kind of make it a little bit easier to get through that period, particularly for the lower ranks, we work with E-1 through E-6, the enlisted personnel. If we can make it a little bit easier for them to get through the holidays, we’ve done our job and we’re happy about it.”
Wal-Mart, Navy Federal Credit Union, Ocean Spray and many others sponsored the event.
